Orangeville songstress Laura Bird draws inspiration from colorful palettes of folk roots, bluegrass and jazz standards. Writing with the keen eye of the observer and painters’ eye for lush images, she delivers her beautifully crafted songs through finely honed guitar work and her sultry smoky voice.

  • Co-founded the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award 2002; Served on both the OCFF (Ontario Council of Folk Festivals) 2005-’08 and ArtsCan Circle Board.
  • Co-founded the Orangeville Headwaters Acoustic Music Society 1998-2008 – Artistic Director Live At the Opera House 2006-’08.
  • Co-founded LINER NOTES Songwriter-In-The-Round concert series Gananoque/Kingston 2010.

Writing with the keen eye of the observer and painters’ eye for lush images, her beautifully crafted songs are revealed on a canvas of finely honed guitar work and her distinctive sultry, smoky voice. Audiences from house concert to festival stage embrace Bird’s natural warmth and relaxed stage presence. Performing since 1990, Laura has released two critically acclaimed albums (Dreamwalker, 2000; The Water In Between, 2008) and is currently in pre-production for her third recording. In addition to songwriting and performing, you’ll find Laura sketching and painting in her Orangeville home studio where she resides with her husband Javier and their pup Oscar.
