Evaristo

Evaristo’s career has taken him from performing solo guitar in underground clubs in Havana to traveling the world as a lead singer of Havana’s world famous Tropicana show. Now in Toronto, he is a singer/songwriter whose songs mix Cuban folk rhythms with rock and urban to create a brand new sound.

  • Evaristo’s original tune, “Tumbao Con Fe (Tumbao With Hope)” was picked as the Song of the Week on CBC Radio One’s ‘Here and Now’ for Nov, 2013.

Born in Havana, Evaristo is a classically trained musician whose varied music career has taken him from performing solo guitar in underground clubs in the Cuban capital, to traveling the world as a lead singer in the company of Havana’s world famous Tropicana nightclub. Moving to Toronto where he now makes his home, he started performing with the likes of Jane Bunnett and Hilario Duran, before forming his own project to showcase his songwriting, songs that combine Cuban folk rhythms with rock and urban to create a brand new sound. His latest CD, ‘Siempre Que Llueve…’ (After the Rain), is available on iTunes. Evaristo performs at many of Toronto’s Latin music venues, such as Lula Lounge and Latinada Tapas Bar. Festival highlights include performing at the Havana Cultura Festival, Salsa on St. Clair, the Toronto WinterCity Festival at Nathan Philips Square, and the Downtown Jazz Festival.
