The 18th annual Winterfolk festival will take place on February 21, 22, 23, 2020. Below is a job description for the position of publicist. You would be working directly with the Festival Director, Brian Gladstone, and in cooperation with the entire Winterfolk team. Innovative and creative thinking are a big asset!

Winterfolk Publicity Job Description:

The festival publicist is a dedicated, thorough, multi-tasking individual with excellent verbal and written skills. The list below can be flexible as festival planning unfolds.

The successful candidate is an experienced publicist, with a good media list and media contacts in blues / roots / and other forms of music.

Among the many required tasks are: (basic publicist stuff!)

  • Assist to create talking points for interviews.
  • Coordinate and organize publicity campaign
  • Create publicity campaign timeline/schedule of releases and other Distribute press releases (which will be written by Winterfolk) Likely there will be 6-8 press releases.
  • Follow-up with targeted media for interviews, reviews, preview pieces, radio airplay, TV stories, online/streaming, and festival coverage in any other media
  • Track media phone and email correspondence/status
  • Respond to media requests (photo/audio files, bios, etc.)
  • Set up and facilitate individual interviews with Festival Director, Artistic Director, or artists performing at Winterfolk
  • Attend Winterfolk events as needed (ie fundraisers, launch party, etc.) and provide on-site support, as needed.
  • Coordinate on-site interviews
  • Create media guest lists and monitor them for all Winterfolk events
  • Distribute guest lists to Winterfolk door staff
  • Monitor media guest attendance at Winterfolk, and meet and greet them
  • Coordinate photographer and video media requests, both in advance and on-site.
  • Coordinate publicity campaign with other relevant activities by members of the Winterfolk team
  • Help to create social media soundbites, video clips and posts in advance of Winterfolk events to create a buzz and also director, monitor and work with any volunteers and/or team members involved in the social media campaign
  • Prepare final summaries for the festival director and the Winterfolk team
