Superstar support for emerging Peterborough songwriter
It all started when Winterfolk executive director Brian Gladstone casually mentioned to emerging Peterborough songwriter Grainne Ryan that he preferred her live show to her acclaimed debut cd, ‘Looking For Sunshine’ (of which he’s also a big fan). A conversation about that comment quickly grew to transform her already-booked Sat. Feb. 16 set at Winterfolk XI into a live-off-the-floor recording session – another first for the festival being held again this year at Toronto’s Delta Chelsea Hotel Feb. 14-17.

Iconic Folkie Brent Titcomb being honoured at Winterfolk XIOne of Canada’s most respected contemporary Folk songwriters and a seminal influence on a generation of artists, Brent Titcomb will be toasted at the 13th “Honouring Our Own” concert being held as part of the Winterfolk XI festival.
Titcomb will perform at the Feb. 17 concert at Delta Chelsea Hotel presented by SongTown music publishing in association with Winterfolk and will be joined by his son, acclaimed young indie songwriter Liam Titcomb, as well as other iconic Folk artists David Bradstreet and David Woodhead.

Ochs’ sister and a panoply of fine artists pays tribute to the late masterIn his “When I’m Gone” song the late Phil Ochs stated that “you won’t find me singin’ on this song” nor “singing louder than the guns” after his death. But his sister Sonny Ochs and a stellar group of Canadian folk artists intend to ensure that his music will continue to “say who’s to praise and who’s to blame,” and to “question when or why” long beyond the grave. As part of the Winterfolk XI Festival being held at Delta Chelsea Hotel in Toronto Feb. 14-17.
